We are opening this thread to discuss about our indvidual work. Here everyone will write a brief about their own project work, other fellows who are interested on her/his work may ask questions on that topic, can ask for references and papers if they can provide. ReplyDeleteI worked at Madras Diabetes research Foundation, Chennai. My work was on ER Stress and how glucolipotoxicity can contribute to ER Stress leading to apoptosis of the pancreatic Beta cells.
Anyone interested in these things?

ReplyDeletemy work was to charecterize apoptotic pathway in macrophage cells due to DNA damage. I used mouse macrophage cells j7774a.1 cell line & cisplatin as DNA damaging drug & have studied expression of different apoptotic & antiapoptotic protein expression status by western blot.

I studied effect of alpha synuclein on cell membrane of SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cell lines to study a proposed mechanism of cell death by membrane thinning caused by this protein in parkinsons disease....i used liposomes to deliver a concentrated soln of the native protein into cells n did an MTT assay and to study cell death n immuno cytochemisty to study localization...results were positive...in vivo studies done by me using stereotaxy followed by HPLC analysis were not satisfactory.....a paper published in Eur. J. Neu. 2010, did the same thing except they produced excess a-syn by overexpressing the gene
